Alexandrina Campbell - Owner/Artist
Hi, my name is Alexandrina Fredricka Campbell. I am a proud Ngarrindjeri Memini (woman) from South Australia. I belong to the Ngarrindjeri Kullindjeri, Yarldari (Mangurupa, Turion, Wataltinyerar - dialects), Ramindjeri and Potawolin clans. I was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1991. I am a proud mother to 3 beautiful children. My grandmother Amelia Stella Campbell was born on Pt McLeay Mission now known as Raukkan in 1948 and is from the four corners of the Ngarrindjeri nation. My Great-Grandmother (Stella Lena Campbell nee McHughes, Granddaughter to William McHughes) named me after Lake Alexandrina. One of the lakes my grandmother Amelia grew up on and swam in as a child, and holds memories and stories passed down from elders. My grandmother has a lot to do with my upbringing as a child and has helped shaped me to be the strong Ngarrindjeri Memini I am today. My grandmother would constantly tell stories about her upbringing as a child on Ngarrindjeri Ruwe. She would share with her grandchildren stories about her culture, lore, traditions, dreamings, and life experiences. I am a proud descendant of King Peter Pulame (Top Ngarrindjeri Tendi/Lore man through his daughter Maggie Ngaramindjeri who married Peter Campbell (Ngarrindjeri - Kullindjeri - Turion Elder) & descendant of William McHughes ( Ngarrindjeri -Yarldari Elder/First Indigenous/Ngarrindjeri Stone Mason). My ancestors/forefathers have left a unique footprint in the Ngarrindjeri history on which I live today, & the footprint I want to imprint on history is with my unique fine art creations of paintings.
Alexandrina is inspired to capture her Ngarrindjeri culture on canvas to allow others to enjoy a unique piece of Ngarrindjeri fine art. She enjoys creating/painting her masterpiece artworks using only quality products in fine acrylic paints, fine oil paints, and quality canvas. All original artworks will be varnished using only quality painting varnish as an extra protectant of the original work. Reproduction prints are Giclee printed on quality canvas. Reproduction prints are replicas of original artwork.
"I inherit my grandmother's creative artistic personality, and I show it in my paintings I create. I am a indigenous artist. I create contemporary original Ngarrindjeri fine art paintings. My artworks are based on my memories on Ruwe (Country), stories passed down by my Grandmother, Mother, Great-Grandmother, life experience, connections to Ruwe (Country), my grandmother's memories and the way of life seen by a Ngarrindjeri Memini. I keep my Ngarrindjeri culture alive by expressing it through my love and passion of art. I also inspire to offer my unique designs and collective fine art range with the world and any art collectors in fine arts, as-well as modern/ contemporary/traditional lifestyle homes." - Alexandrina Campbell
I would like to acknowledge the Kaurna people past, present and future and recognise their committed connection to land, waters, culture/customs and lore on the land that I work and live. I would like to pay my respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders from past, present and future for teaching and guiding me through my journey in life.
